The Project - Interfolio
-
-
Interfolio is a module-based information system that supports all stages of the faculty and academic professionals’ lifecycle at Princeton. It will serve as a central hub for all academics’ data. Modules include Academic Appointments, Academic Activity Reporting, Academic Search and Academic Lifecycle Management. Interfolio at Princeton supports all ODoF appointees including faculty, researchers, postdocs, professional specialists and librarians. When we refer to “faculty” in the context of Interfolio, we include all of the above.
-
-
ODoF’s work will not change, but the technology used to complete the work will. Interfolio will enable us to consolidate and streamline many processes that currently require multiple systems to complete (eForms, DropBox, etc.). Those primarily affected by the transition to Interfolio will be Academic Managers and ODoF staff. Specifically, with the introduction of the Academic Appointments module, ODoF appointments and actions will be processed through custom workflows that we design in Interfolio. This will include the following ODoF processes:
- Reappointments and Promotions
- New appointments
- Sabbaticals, Leaves of absence, and outside contracts
The Academic Activity Reporting module will provide faculty and academic professionals with a central hub for storing their CV and documenting other scholarly activity.
Academic Search will replace AHIRE, centralizing all academic hiring processes and streamlining the process of posting, submitting and processing academic search activities.
-
-
We will notify affected groups and individuals well in advance of each module’s implementation. Until that time, continue to follow your current processes.

Academic Search Module
-
-
Yes. Academic Search will replace AHIRE.
As a central hub for all academic hiring processes, Academic Search will simplify the process of posting, submitting and processing academic search activities. Academic Search provides administrators with a consistent and familiar platform that will take the guesswork out of determining which system to use for important recruitment processes. This transition is aligned with the OIT’s technology strategy of shifting from custom applications to commercial, cloud-based solutions.
-
-
As we approach the January 2026 implementation, we will provide a schedule for transitioning to Academic Search. For now, continue using AHIRE for any searches.
-
-
The data will still be accessible. It will be archived and retrievable through custom reports.
-
-
No. The processes that departments and ODoF have in place for academic searches will not change, nor will roles and access to information. The process for approving positions will not change either. Once approved, all position postings, collection of applicant materials, references and submission to ODoF will be conducted through Interfolio.
-
-
Interfolio Academic Search is widely used across higher education and we anticipate that many applicants will be familiar with the platform.
Academic Activity Reporting Module
-
-
Faculty and academic professionals will be the primary users of the Academic Activity Reporting Module. Other functional offices will also benefit from the Academic Activity Reporting Module features.
Training
-
-
Users have access to many learning opportunities and support resources, including Quick Reference Cards (QRC), face-to-face training sessions, Zoom webinars, and self-paced Interfolio tutorials. See the Resources page for more information.
Support
-
-
If you need help or have questions, please open a Support Request Form ticket and a project team member will respond.
Dossier
-
-
Interfolio Dossier is a free tool that helps scholars to collect, organize, and send out evidence of their academic excellence. Using Dossier, confidential letters of recommendation can be requested and stored. A Dossier account is not required for using Princeton’s Interfolio platform. For more information see Interfolio’s Dossier Quick Start Guide.
